ABOUT OUR GSP'S…..ONE DOG CAN DO IT ALL!

Not all GSP's are alike. There are many undesirable traits both in personality and genetically, that must be addressed by the breeder. The "Weston’s" Line has been developed to bring out the BEST possible traits for a true family companion and hunting dog.

Natural ability and trainability are two vital ingredients that make our pups useful to the serious hunter/competitor.  Only dogs with strong bird drive, strong pointing instincts, natural retrieving desire (land and water), natural desireGSP Puppy to honor another dogs point  and accept and hold their training are used in our breeding programs to help ensure offspring with all of the ingredients the average hunter needs for a successful hunting partner with minimal training for opening day.

Another unique trait is their ability to adapt their range to different terrains or competitions. Their extreme versatility allows them to hunt as a pheasant dog or open up and range like a gundog stakes dog or sit quietly in a duck blind. They are very athletic and tend to have a lot of heart and no quit in them. They are extremely competitive natured and hate to be beat. No retrieve is too hard or too long on land or water.

Although our GSP's are bred for the field, their classic good looks and sound athletic conformation is proving them to be competitive in the show ring. We strongly believe in "Form follows function" and breed our dogs for athleticism and good pattern that flow together smoothly for a pleasing to the eye appearance.

Our GSP Stud Dogs
Weston’s Kennels stud dogs are first selected for their powerful pedigrees and then have to prove they genetically sound and posses the characteristics needed in todays GSP.

These very important characteristics are intelligence, trainability, tremendous bird drive, great nose, a strong desire to hunt, strong pointing instincts, natural retrieving ability, a strong desire to honor, great style, love the water, an excellent disposition AND good looks.

They must then prove their worth as hunting dogs, and then be versatile enough to be competitive in many different arenas of interest to promote a versatile GSP. This is a tall order for any dog, but we will not incorporate any dog that does not display all of these attributes into our breeding program so as to assure a solid foundation for future generations.

The stud dogs listed below have met the standards we have set for our breeding stock and have proven to possess all of these very important characteristics that we want to maintain in our shorthairs.  Follow links to their individual pages for more information on these two dogs.
